The trees were just beginning to leaf out when I arrived in Missouri. Every morning, I made a cup of hot coffee and sat down on the porch to watch nature at the spring.
Beavers worked on a dam, ducks and geese raised families, a pair of hawks often made a showy appearance. As it got warmer the cicadas appeared, as well as butterflies, and ticks. A chorus of frogs, coyotes, and owls took turns in the night.
A friendly orange cat welcomed me to this home he has adopted as his own.
The flora and fauna became dear to me like friends, and it was a delight to spend time with them. Some of my favorite photos are these portraits of an Eastern Phoebe tending to a nest in the porch eaves, flitting between favorite branches and delivering bugs to its tiny brood. Plus, a bonus crow at the end because it just looks so cool. Enjoy - Lauren
